Climate Securities and Climate Ground
Two sister companies with separate jobs
Climate Securities structures ownership and finance for nature and climate programmes. Climate Ground prepares the evidence. Independent bodies verify it.
Who does what
Climate Securities
Designs the ownership, the instrument and the route to capital for nature, energy, minerals and trade programmes, so the value they create stays with the people and places that produce it. Never measures or verifies anything itself.
Climate Ground
Prepares auditable evidence from satellite observations, field records and laboratory results, with every figure labelled, sourced and given its uncertainty. Never verifies its own evidence.
Independent bodies
Accredited verifiers check the evidence against the programme's methodology. Registries record title and issuance. Governments make their own authorisations. Authorised firms arrange and place securities.
Independence
How the two stay separate
- Free choice of evidence provider. We set the evidence requirement. The programme chooses who meets it. A programme structured by Climate Securities can use any evidence provider that meets its methodology, and projects measured by Climate Ground enter our programmes on the same terms as any other.
- Arm's-length terms.Any work between the two companies is documented and priced as it would be with any other supplier.
- Disclosed to every client. The relationship is set out in each mandate letter. People who work for both stand aside from choosing or pricing evidence providers in our programmes.
- Verified by others.Neither company verifies evidence. Verification is always done by accredited, independent bodies. Our integrity rules
